Technical Help diagnosing

Hi,

Any help would be appreciated pointing me in the right direction for the following:

I'm wondering if there could be an issue with the gearbox linkage on my 8v. It sometimes doesn't want to enter 1st or 3rd gear and feels as if you are pushing against something, the stick won't quite slot into place. Usually just move it into another gear once or twice and it goes back into 1st or 3rd fine.

Also, I often get a squeaking/creaking noise coming from underneath the engine on lift-off, sounds like it is rocking back and forth. Simulates a misfire when lifting off the throttle in 2nd/3rd. Could this be an engine mount? I know it's not an actual mis as that particular problem was fixed a few months ago...

Does 5th prove to be a problem to select?

And if the dog mount under the car has gone - it'll rock in the mounts easily

People dont replace them, they tend to pack them with a filler of some sorts as removing them can be a pure pain!

Hi Ziggy,

No, only 1st or 3rd I believe. I'll have a look at that bottom engine mount, only ~£20 off shop4parts if it needs to go. It's a little odd as I would have expected an advisory for that in Feb? Would be a job for the mechanic I think but may be best for him not to use an impact tool. Hopefully it will drive a little nicer.
