Hello!
I am on my journey to own and refurbish a few fiats. My current cars are a 1991 126P and a 2015 Fiat 500 Turbo.

I love my 126p and like how rare it is in the states.

Recently I made a decision to purchase 3 other classic fiats to hopefully refurbish.
  • 1966 Fiat 600 D (Argentina)
  • 1983 Zastava 750LE
  • 1977 Fiat 127
I will upload pictures of those cars soon!

Most of these aren't traditional Italian Fiats but I hope im still welcome!

Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt, welcome to FiatForum

I worked on many 126's, 600's, and 127's back in the day, even did full rebuilds on a '68 600 and a '77 127 (903cc) when they were essentially just old cars at the end of their lives, to use as my 1st cars on the road as an Apprentice Mechanic. . Where I worked, if you did something wrong, you were given a 500 or 126 to work on as punishment -I got to work on many (too many!).

Iirc, the Zastava 750 was a version of the Fiat 600 with the 767cc engine (same as was fitted to my 600).

Thanks so much for this reply! I really appreciate the welcome from such a veteran!

I really need some technical manuals for the 600, 127 and the 750LE.

are there downloadable PDFs for each of these?

We've got the 127 - seems not for the others :(

But if you find them, please upload!

Hi Matt and welcome. Anyone with a collection like that has to be welcome. I've always fancied a Steyr Puch - like a 500 but with a flat twin in the rear. My sister lives near the Quabbin reservoir and we've spent time with her, her husband and their kids over the years, what a lovely part of the world you live in.
Thanks that means a lot.
Im learning so much about these brands. I love it! That car must have been so much fun. The same Steyr weapons manufacturer?

Yes that area of MA is beautiful. I am closer to the cape, South of Boston.

Hi, Matt! Your cars sound like real treasures. Good luck with the restoration

Just for clarity, I never actually owned a Steyr Puch. Back around 1965 I was thinking of buying a new one but instead bought a 1275 Mini Cooper S. Don't regret doing that as the Cooper was just so much fun but now I'm old and the Steyr Puch is quite a rare car, if I heard of one needing some love and attention I'd probably buy it if the price was not to much. I should be so lucky eh?Yes that area of MA is beautiful. I am closer to the cape, South of Boston.

Cape Cod I presume? We had a wonderful time there a few years ago when we took our family and my sister and her family all staying in cabins back of the dunes. My brother in law, sister's husband, was a summer lifeguard on the cape when he was young and knows many of the families in the fishing community. We were spoiled beyond imagination especially the BBQs on the beach, it was a wonderful few weeks.

Wow this is so cool connecting with you.

Yes Cape Cod. Just close enough to not have to deal with the summer traffic!

Those cabins are great, prices have gotten out of control lately though.

I appreciate the kind words. It will certainly be an adventure with many mistakes.

I may be documenting my journey through youtube, its just scary putting myself out there!

We heard lots of stories from the locals about how bad the traffic can be, especially at the bridge. We always visited in the spring or autumn (fall) because it's too hot for us in the middle of summer, especially if we were combining a visit to my daughter and family in Southern Maryland as well. We were lucky though as we were never held up much at all. I remember one year, when it was absolutely swelteringly hot, as we were traveling in convoy and not too far from the bridge, with my sister's family and other friends - 4 cars in total - stopping at a roadside ice cream shop and all buying ice creams. I don't think any of us got the ice creams eaten before they melted!

The cabins were very "rustic" but comfortable - owned by people my son in law knows - My sister and her husband were very strict with their kids, 'specially when it came to what they were allowed to eat. It didn't take them long to find out we had chocolate biscuits and other treats always available in our cabin and they would sneak across to ours when they were meant to be in bed for a quick biscuit or two. Those were magical days back when all our kids were young and a memory I treasure. They're all grown up now with kids of their own and I'm reliving all those days spoiling the grandchildren now!

Oh, and talking about Ice cream shops, we went across for the wedding of my sister's girl. My daughter and family came up from Maryland and we took my younger boy and his family with us. Older boy couldn't come due to work commitments. My daughter's boy introduced us to sweetFrog, Oh my, now that's an ice cream shop! My boy's wee girl just couldn't make her mind up what toppings to have - didn't have any trouble making it all disappear though! Her son however preferred "Chuck E Cheese" but we never went there.

Hello, to anyone interested, I have another short video testing if the engines can turn over.
