Technical Handbrake jammed on one wheel after cat burn out

Hi all,

Too many things have gone wrong with my punto since i got the misfire!!

I have only realised today after trying to push my car that the handbrake is jammed on the real left wheel. This only started after i got a misfire and had to drive 10 miles to get her back home. The cat got destroyed and was practically on fire.

Has anybody else had this problem? Im wondering if as a temporary measure i can disconnected the handbrake cable from that wheel?

Get the back of car up on stands and take the wheel off relese the handbreak and give the drum a good wack with a hammer and a block of wood as this should relese the stuck shoes from the drum.

Also you can back the handbreak off inside the cab if you remove the plastic trim around handbreak and you will see a threded bar with the 2 cables attached just losen off the nut, BUT you wont have a handbreak untill you investagate further wen the drum is off to what is sticking like a lip on the drum ect ect.

Depending on the proximity of the handbrake cable and the cat, an overheated cat may have melted the plastic/nylon lining inside the cable and seized it.

i wouldnt advise you drive the car anywhere until you have got the drum off and assessed
