Hello from the arctic circle. Been browsing the forum for years and years, as an Fiat fanatic. I've dreamt about GP T-Jet, or HGT Bravo for over 10 years, maybe 18 years, something inbetween is the truth probably, and now I finally got one, the GP T-Jet. HGT Bravos are so rare, and atleast here in Finland the T-Jets are starting to be rare too... Not so many people can say they drive their dream car, but I truly can. Cheap taste is a blessing. :) Ofcourse, Abarth is the thing, but good luck finding one, atleast in here. Ofcourse I spot some 500's now and then in the summer, but GP ones are very, very rare.

Why I am here, is my love towards Fiats. I've had a couple before this, and they have worked like a clock, without any rust issues too. They're kinda **** in some things, but they are my ****, no other manufacturers product has felt as good, or cheap and easy to service.

I do have a few questions to add here. As I said, I have really browsed the forum a lot over the years. But never came across to a simple answer to the following things, might be because im a bit dyslexic...:

1. Because this GP has sold in Finland, it only has the entry level audio system (atleast I think it is, since there ain't any markings what i've seen in the photos for advanced ones). I've tried to find information, that can there be added a bluetooth addon? Some say yes, some say no, some say blaupunkt ones can. Then everyone is talking about the blue n me system in between so I'm confused... Sorry about that, might be an langage gap issue, and the dyslexia.

2. The left front door (driver side) audio is completely dead, the one in the back works though (3 door model), so is it possible that the headunit is dead on left channel only, on a front door? Cleaned the door connectors already, and checked the speaker and tweeter itself, speaker and tweeter both are fine. Everything were clearly from the factory in there. I read somewhere, that keeping the battery disconnected for ~3 hours could resolve something, but it didn't in this scenario.

3. Same story about the seatbelt buzzer system, I've cleaned the connectors and the "seatbelt lock" aswell inside-out. I think the problem has something to do with the actual pressure switch under my ass while im sitting there. But I can't find complete answer to the problem, if the seat itself is the problem. Sometimes it works for a few days, sometimes it drives me crazy, like throwing a dice. And if it is the seat itself, how to fix that?

4. Should the rear wiper wipe automatically couple times when I start the car? It wouldn't be a problem in most countries, but in here, like this morning there was -18c, so it's going to pop a fuse or a dozen in future when I forgot to pull it up from the glass for the night. 😅

A bit more to the backstory, This is my first car that is newer than 1999, so obviously im confused in various things.

Sorry for the long message... 🙂

WELCOME TO THE FORUM.
You can get stand alone blu tooth widgets that should work although it may be an effort to live with. My brother used to have one and they will.be better these days
Yes one channel can fail on the head unit but still suspect wires or connections. I had to cut the terminals off our Panda 169 and solder the wires before it worked consistently. Badly made connectors would only work one time.
The wiper sounds wrong.
Seat belt buzzer is probably the sensor but you need to extract it to test.

Thank you for the answers. The problem with modern head units is, that they are way too flashy for my taste. Have seen a few sleek, OEM look ones online but surprise surprise they don't ship to Finland. Yes I've seen that the buzzer can be disconnected, but if I understood correctly it is a hassle. Rather try to fix the problem itself, than bypassing it. Looking more at it when I actually lose my mind to the beeping. 😅 I have to remove the head unit in near future, and measure all the speaker connections to the door. I don't have that kind of removal tools, only have the flat ones that go one each side of the unit, and the nearest hardware store is 65km away. Not driving there only for a few euro purchase...

Do you have any idea for the rear wiper thing, what could cause the problem? Yes I know, that I can remove the whole thing. But I'm the kind of guy who wants to fix the problem itself, so that things work as they were intended.

Hi and welcome, 🙂

I like the 199 GP👍

I am on my 3rd Diesel mj, and have owned a 2012 Twinair for 12 years from new (excellent purchase)

On a GP worth looking at the bunch of cables at the door hinge.. They can fracture😉

That Messed with the electric windows on my 1st MJ 😣

Radio extraction..
I bought an Alfa Mito (just like my twinair). But with silly electrical faukts

I had to buy the Flat radio tools, they were 3EURO on Ebay

Wire pins are even cheaper
( you can just bend wire..)

Wipers:

Generally the selecting of Reverse ONLY triggers the rear wiper
IF the front wipers are selected

Which engine is in your GP?

I've come to an conclusion, that Italian car passion comes with some electrical business as a byproduct... 😅

The door connector looked perfectly fine in naked eye, truth may be something else when measured with multimeter...

So some sturdy metal wire can "click" the head unit locks off, without the notches in the end?

Yes I figured something is wrong with the wipers. They wipe couple times everytime I start the car, and when put it on reverse, doesn't matter if the wipers are on or off the rear wiper still does it. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

It's the 1.4 T-Jet 120hp. Feels more powerful though. I've driven powerful cars a lot like Focus ST and RS, and T-Jet feels surprisingly "alive and breethy (is it even a word?)" in comparison to it's small displacement.

Alright. That ground is going to the checklist too. Thank you for everyone who shared their knowledge. Much appreciated. 🫡

So a little update here, no one probably cares but I find this a bit hilarious so have to share. The connection between headunit and left front speaker was fine. Changed the head unit to a Pioneer one (only a few weeks used, which I had in the closet laying around) as I thought the headunit has problems on the left channel. Still dead. Changed the speakers to the front doors since the factory ones were badly worn. Still left channel is dead. At this point I was basically thinking that am I really going crazy, and hallucinating or something, what the f's going on in here.

Well, ofcourse, one of the new speakers is broken from the factory, and ofcourse it's the one I installed to the left door. 😅 Classic 50/50 scenario.
