Time for a cam belt, etc change on my '04 2.0JTD Scudo van. Not really sure who to take it to. From what I understand, they're a bit tricky, so not sure about letting my usual back street garage loose on it. Can be ruinous if it all goes wrong.
Just for a laugh, I contacted my local Fiat dealer (Simonstone, Bristol) who want £646 to do the cam belt kit, inc pump. That's out for a ten year old van.
Considered a fast-fit specialist like Mr Clutch, who list cam belts as one of their specialisations. Don't know anything about them, so not sure how wise this would be.
Which leads me to a half-way house of a Fiat specialist, but don't know of any in Bristol. Any recommendations for Bristol or South West area?
Are these belts tricky and need mechanics experienced in these engines? Am I right to be choosy about who does the job - or am I worrying unecessaily?
