Hi people,

im new to the site and was wondering if anyone knew of a decent and reasonable garage to get my Grande Punto serviced and MOT'd in the Glasgow or Falkirk area?

Dont want to go to AC as I feel they are expensive and not great value.

Cheers in advance :)

Arnold clark £99 for service & MOT how cheap do you want it:confused:

Plenty of local garages but I would for this first MOT at least stick to a Fiat garage as they will be aware of potential problems of this car at this age.

LOL what do you get for your £99 ?

Oil and filter change thats what.

All AC do is look for faults and try and get work that dose not need doing out of unsuspecting customers.

You are wrong. When I had my GP great service from local dealership. Your comments could be construed as libelious.

Arnold Clark and aftercare has been done to death and only a few searches on Google can give you opinion. Lets face it they have a reputation- rightly or wrongly. I guess a tenuous comparison is they are the Ryanair of car dealers if you will.

Personally I've never been greatly impressed with AC dealers around Glasgow- but it is hard to avoid for Fiat- some are O.K but certain branches are better than others.

Parks in East Kilbride isn't meant to be too bad if your looking for a non AC garage, but it is a main dealer and doubt it would be much, f any, cheaper than AC. Their used to be a Fiat specialist the other side of EK, but don't know much about that.

DO you work fo AC, Have you worked for AC, Have you served your time in a AC garage ? are you AC in disguise

I know how it works.

All big business attract bad reputations (BT, B.Gas/Electric etc) due to the volume of work they carry out/do its just the way it is but remember staff change frequently, mostly sales and managers.

Personally I dont like AC sales pitch, salesmen on minimum wages who depend on sales to make a wage are going to tell you anything...they have bills to pay aswell. Majority of techs are good and some very highly trained and among best in UK.

You are so wrong. I have no involvement whatsover with AC. In my profession I work in a totally different field. As my post says I have always been happy when my car has been with AC. :)

I left to find something more challenging, and became a chemical systems engineer (+ doubled my salary with the move). After many years of working on cars and doing homers in my spare time I realised that my first love of fixing car for job satisfaction was more enjoyable so I opened my own Gararge in April then took over the unit next door last month.

Falkirk area, there was a great little place I used for years in Plean, just as you come out on the Falkirk side. Welded up the Uno year after year and spent ages one year stripping and reassembling the rear brakes on My Y10 before deciding that the brakes were actually working right, they were just rubbish and passing it on the MOT for no extra charge. Never found a place I trust like that since.
BUT.. Moved away 6 years ago and last used them about a year after that. If they're still there though worth a go.
Fairdeal autos??? maybe? long time ago.
