I have a 1.4T 5 speed when I drive it in the highway (140kmph limit)5th gear with 140 4000rpm and the fuel efficiency is pretty terrible so I would like to know if changing it to 6 speed manual will fix this issue and if yes is there a difference between 6 speed manual from a normal grande punto and a 6 speed from Grande Punto Abarth. If u have other suggestions I’m happy to hear them

As a cheaper option, if you are only concerned about revs at high speeds and less about high speed cornering , then going to a higher profile tyre will have a similar effect with less hassle, although you will have to confirm using GPS as speedo will still record as before.
There are websites that give speeds at different "rolling circumferences" with different tyre or wheel combinations.
Tyre clearance can sometimes be a problem and you will reduce your acceleration, so your choice.;)

Actually both my winter and summer tires are bigger than recommended my summer tires are low profile 205 on 17 inch wheel winter are 225 on a 17 inch rim and yes it does affect the Speedo because on the Speedo I see 140 Km on the gps it says something around 129

I don't have any gearbox data, maybe others on Forum can advise.
Is there enough room to fit a "taller", higher profile tyre? There is some suggestion of 18inch wheels on the 170Hp version?

According to this source the 6 speed from the Abarth does have a taller top gear:
But also that the final drive ratio is different on 1.4T compared to the other petrol Grande Puntos, so it might not change much in kph per 1000rpm in top:
The 6 speed 169 Panda has less steering lock due to the longer gearbox, I think with some different steering & suspension components as a result. Not sure if the same would apply to GP?

The other thing I noted was the T jet in some data I saw had max revs around 5000 compared with 6000 on the more basic 1.4 16 valve and there appeared to be an option of 18 inch wheels, so all those things will give gearing change requirements.
Usually a 6 speed box if applicable will give more of an "overdrive effect" in lowering revs, but I have no detail in my books re that.:)
