General Gearbox rustling noise?

You know that noise you get from the gearbox when its low on oil, like a rustling sound? Sort of like a crisp bag being crunched Well mines doing it in all gears and the oil is spot on is my box going to give out soon?

Could also be the clutch release bearing on the way out?

Cheers, the release bearing is noisy at idle, has been for 26000 miles! So, I best not take her to Germany in April then

Hey, I've got that noise too. Mine is also being accompanied by a sound that's similar to the sound you get when the disc's are not kicking off the brake pads correctly..... And I'm trying really hard to ignore them both till the weather warms up a bit.

Wouldn't worry Barry, Willies was noisy before going to Istanbul, thank god though I didn't replace the gearbox before I went or I would have never made it....

We are off to Eastern Bavaria in April, really dont expect the 500 to arrive by then so the Pandas got to be the car, otherwise a boring VW and I cant bear that thought.
Really like the idea of driving into Germany and down the Rhine in my Panda
