Hi fellow members. I have a 2.5HD Peugeot Boxer Camper which I gather has a common Fiat transmission as Ducato. It is a 2001 that has developed crunching gears, across the board, as it had water in the oil. Trying to find a reconditioned at a reasonable cost, or alternative solutions. Has any of you good people got any suggestions please

Not sure about gear ratios, but the 2.8 Sofim engine is basically the same fitting on the gearbox , although the clutch operation may be different as in a pull clutch operation rather than a push.
You may get around this by using that model cable and clutch assembly.
Having said all this even the 2.8 gearbox will be fairly thin on the ground these days.:(

Cheers bugsymike. Appreciate your thoughts. So far I have been quoted €3500 to reconditioned. Seems a bit steep but reluctant to buy unknown scrap gearbox and risk same synchro issues
I have seen old 2.8 Peugeots etc. with that engine and box in good order according to the advert, in rusty bodys so could be road tested before purchase on eBay recently and for less than £1000 you would have the spare engine and gearbox. Always assuming you want to go to the trouble and have the space etc.:)
Personally £3500 for a recon gearbox is a lot to me, but then I have never spent that much even to buy any vehicle in the last 55 years.;););)
