was happily driving along last night and mf GF wanted the usb plugged in for some music and i was in the process of trying to light a fag. my car lighter has been pretty poor recently and takes several attempts to work, sometimes taking 10 mins. im not sure if a lighter can do this... or if it was when she plugged in the usb (she said the inside of the cable was a bit dirty, but she tried to clean it, but i was much too busy driving to really take an interest). anyway when she plugged in the USB the radio went off, and now wont come back on. also the light in the car doesnt work at all. was working fine before so assume its related. not sure if anything else is broken, as the lights, heating, etc, etc all work fine and thats all i needed last night.

looked to see if it was the fuse but i have no idea which one im looking for. theres a diagram but it only shows lights, heating, etc, and the fuses on the left are just blanked out, apart from a couple, with one saying "servik" or something along those lines. excuse my stupidity

so yea i do not have a manual and searching online and even on here isnt giving me any answers.

anyone got any idea what fuse im looking for? cheers

turns out the horn has gone aswell.

so thats the inside light (when you open the door, etc), the radio, and the horn, and possibly something else i dont know about.

ill have a look at that link cheers. went into halfords but the guy was basically useless. someone must have a cinquecento and must know which one it is .... trying all of them just seems like a lot of work and expense.

cheers, but i have no idea how to see what fuse is blown. i mean i cant tell, or more like i havent bothered to try. is it blatently obvious?

and do you mean try the 10 or so unmarked fuses?

There will be a break in the connection its fairly obvious to see once popped out of car, you can always look at one that is working and then you can see the difference

Download the link, its a manual, it will list the fuses, their location, what ampage they are, what colour they are etc etc, then get off to a motor factors for a replacement

A blade fuse has two blades connected by a small piece of wire.

If the piece of wire is missing the fuse has blown.

If the fuses are of the see through variety you can look through them, if they are not see through they have a slot in the top to look through.

Yes, take out the fuses that aren't marked as side lights or head lights.

Cheers

what link? the link above is for seicento. downloaded a couple of things off it but yet to find any fuse info to help me.

and ok i think i got it. ill have a fiddle in the morning when its light cheers :)

wonder what blew the fuse then?

The manual is roughly the same for the cinq, they are virtually same car barring the look, all things like the fuseboxes are in roughly the same locations

With you trying to light a cigarette and her wanting to plug in the USB at the same time maybe created a surge, maybe a short happened as well

Most of time its just one of those things

ohh ok. thanks guys. you just have to bare with me. computers are more my speciality than cars.

so where am i looking in the seicento downloads?

ie: what do i download?

cheers.

ok downloaded it and found a table with all the fuse info, which will help if its exactly the same as the cinq?

15 is the radio and light.

17 is the lighter, so im guessing thats 15 and 17 across?

why do they have to make this so difficult lol. im no car expert but any other problem is usually obvious. even the guy in halfords was clueless, although he did recon it would most likely be a 15amp, and the radio and light (15) is 15amp apparently

edit: and the horn is 17 too...

The downloaded manual will have a pic i assume of the fusebox so look where fuse 15 and 17 is on the picture and thats where the two faulty fuses should be located if it is same as a cinq

You could always wait for someone with a cinq manual to confirm what they are if you are still unsure

all sorted.

the manual didnt really help in the end.

managed to find the blown fuse manually. was the hazard lights fuse. replaced that and its sweet as a nut.

surely the cause was using the lighter and the usb at the same time?

and surely its all good now?

If it blows again pretty much straight away then you do have more than likely a problem
