Hi
I have a 1993 Fiat Uno 1 litre which had some welding in a large area around the rear shock top mount (driver's side) in order to pass the MOT.
The fuel filler pipe had to be manoeuvred out of the way for safety reasons when the welding was carried out and seems to be held in place by means of a outer collar (with four lugs). The old collar was damaged on removal (broken lug) and when attempting to fit a new one it fails to engage properly with the slots in the plastic pipe surround (please see photos) .
On consulting the ePER diagrams for information, there are a couple of variations, one of which includes a U shaped plastic clip for support (number 20 in first photo). This clip appears to be missing from the car but essential as without it you have to force the pipe into the correct position. Fitting a new one is awkward due to access issues but should be possible?
There is an alternative solution involving the drilling of holes in the car body/pipe surround and using rivets.
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of refitting this filler pipe after it is temporarily removed?
Cheers,
Andy
