Technical Ft caliper sliders

Fiat Ducato X250 3.0 180, 2012yr

Guys,
Never had to change these before, seems I may have a stuck/frozen or non floating caliper (hence one side pad down to metal see recent thread of mine) new pads and discs fitted, anti squeal past used etc
But the o/s/f same as worn down old pad is squealing really bad

So,
Those "tubes" in the kit, all I need to know is, them tubes should they just slide out of the caliper webbing or are they fixed/screwed in? Any special tool reqd?
I'm guessing they may be seized hence the wear

Any advice please I would be grateful, would like to know what I'm up against before I start (new slider kit on order,

Should slide out but if very badly seized I use a gcramp to get them moving then you can usually work them out. Although I've had to use a vicegrip on occasion. If the caliper itself has rust scale in the hole you'll need to scrape that out. I then wrap wirewoll around an Allan bolt put it in the chuck of the drill and use that to burnsh the inside of the caliper bolt. Then refit with appropriate grease to stop it happening again.

The sliders are bolted to the the caliper carrier and slide in the caliper.

They are ftted with long 8mm bolts and need a m6 allen key type socket. It is easy to snap these bolts as they are often fitted to tight. All the bolts should be fitted with loctite

To remove the caliper carrier from the hub need a m14 allen key type socket.

The sliders can usualy be released. The sliders are lubricated with silicone grease and the new rubber boots can be difficult to seat correctly so reuse the old ones if in good order.

"burnsh the inside of the caliper bolt" should read " burnish the inside of the caliper hole"

The torques would be in the x250 manual don't know where the disc is here. Torque spec will probably have a wide range as they are pretreated with red threadlocker.

The long caliper bolts are 18nm and the caliper carrier to hub bolts are 210nm.

The torque for the long bolt holding the slider tube seems to be a bit low but that is what the spec is. the bolt only needs to hold the tube in its seat in the caliper carrier.

late entry here i know rolopolo if the new slides have what looks like dried paint on them that is a form of loctite dont worry about adding more i always use rubber grease when reassembling them it seems to have solved the problems i was having which were similar to yours Cheers adam

Did the bad side, straight forward, tubes were dry but moved out with slight persuasion, still the other side to do, which I must try to, before it gets too cold out there lol

hi all
have the same probs on 2006(244/2.3jtd) and was looking to renew the bolts and slidders and on inspection the bolts look like they are 8mm and then at the end go upto 10 mm...had a look on the auction site and cant see any to match so called the local dealer(n.ireland)and was quoted £125 per front caliper
any help would be great

carderv. You need to check what make calipers are used on your van as there were a couple of makes used. some had Lucas and some had Brembo. This listing may fit yours. ask the seller.

im cheap so i use emery tape to remove the rust
