Hello! I am a new member here. This came about when I started thinking we (my husband and I and the doggies) needed something a little bigger than my Ford Fiesta for our frequent out-of-town trips. My 2013 Ford Fiesta was a 5 speed manual with 250,000 happy miles on it. It still ran like a champ, but a bit cramped on long trips (and little things were failing here and there). I decided a Hyundai Tucson was better for the long trips, and unexpectedly the Hyundai dealer took my Fiesta as a trade-in. My husband was thrilled, but I had not prepared to part with it and was in tears afterward, mostly because the Hyundai is an automatic and I did not realize how much I would miss a stick-shift (I've only had manual transmissions my whole driving life). Soooo the husband thought it would be a good idea that I pick up a little commuter car for around town that is manual transmission (and thus keep the miles off the Hyundai).
Enter the cute little 2013 Fiat Pop, found on Craigslist with 74,000 miles on it for $3000. I admit so far I love it to pieces. I also admit that before buying it I literally had nightmares about it spontaneously catching on fire or disintegrating while driving it. I blame the dozens of negative things I read about Fiats before purchasing it. I started reading this forum as sort of 'therapy', and so here I am. Only had it a couple of weeks, and the only issues so far are the ones the seller disclosed when I bought it (it is a convertible and the top is up, but will not automatically go up and down. And the hatch is difficult to open). But it is fun to drive, I once again have a happy clutch-foot and it is cute as can be.
Im sure I will have questions as things arise. This is my first go with a Fiat. Now I have experience with the Hyundai and have had a VW Fox, Toyota Corolla, Ford Falcon, Ford Fiesta and various iterations of those little subcompacts popular in the 80s (i.e. Chevy Chevette, Chevy Citation etc.).
Anyway, thanks for having me! I'll have to post a picture of the cute little Pop when I get a good picture of it =)
