Ok basically my car has the fixed glass roof but when i bought my car it was the last one in the showroom so it has what it has, but i wanted an opening glass roof, would it be possible to fit an opening one? would a dealer do it you recon?

I bet it can be done but I also bet its just as cheap to buy a new car with it fitted.

yeh probibly, i was wandering if there was any smashed up ones on ebay etc if it would be fitted ok, i assume the fixed roof is bonded in?

I wouldn't do it. Anything to do with a roof on a car is dodgy area. You're warranty is definitely blown. On the sunroof on my 00 Marea - this leaks. As GUI says - it would be cheaper to buy a new car when you have added up to total costs of the conversion. I only noticed last day that on the new Abarth configuration it does not give the option of an opening sunroof.
You could buy the roof and wait until the warranty is up - realise that that is a bit of a contradiction.

oh right was just a thought, would of liked it for the summer, iv come from a convertible lol

I can relate to your desire for an opening glass sunroof. With my current lounge model with the fixed glass roof window the car 'heats' up quickly in comparison to my previous sport model (that had no glass roof). I'm appreciative of the climate control that came with the 'new' model so I'm not fiddling with the air con controls to keep the temperature right.
I read somewhere that up to 30mph you better off having the windows open and the aircon off but after 30mph windows should be closed with the aircon on from the economy perspective. Still it is hard to beat the 'wind in the hair' even if its costing you a few miles to the gallon. I reckon you'll be in the market for a 500c next. The basic pop comes with aircon for 'free' which is nice.

You're warranty is definitely blown.

All it would do is affect the warranty on the roof itself.

but the list of parts needed to actually fit it would be silly.

New roof lining
Possibly different airbags if they're different
Opening roof (obviously)
If the roof control unit is a CANBUS unit then you're opening up a whole can of worms.....

As RUI says you're better off getting a car with an opening roof from the factory :)

I was half tempted to do the glass opening thing myself !
It's nice to hear that the warranty wouldn't be affected :).
Don't understand the airbag issue and the control unit - is this the switch at the rear view mirror ? (if it is - you'd have to get it with the glass opening unit).
Still a scrary undertaking for anyone - I would hate to hazard a guess to the amount of hours installation it would need.
