FIAT stands for

I know what FIAT stands for but I'm a crap speller so he goes.

"Fabrecarno Italiano Automobile Transmissiom"

In English its means something like

"Italian Made cars"

Italian made cars

....and they actually advertise this!

Re: Italian made cars

No that what FIAT stands for. It did once appear on old euro ads.

Re: Re: Italian made cars

"Fabbrica Italiano Automobili Torino"

although I've never had cause for "Fix It Again Tony". If I'd told you that all the Fiats that have been in my family were 95% reliable you wouldn't believe me :p

FIAT and ALFA

Paul FIAT stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino. Italina is female and Italiano is male. A car in italian is a female noun-heh!

If you ever wondered what ALFA stands for: Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili.

Cheers!

Re: English

FIAT and ALFA

Yes Paul something like that but the literal translation would be:
Factory Italian Cars Turin obviously translated literally it does not make much sense but in italian it does. In english you would have to say Italian Cars Turin Factory.

For ALFA it would be Anonymous Lombardia Factory Cars (literally)... Lombardia is the Italian region they were produced - where Milan is situated.

Cheers
