Fiat Stilo information

Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

I still think it looks like a skoda, but the colour does'nt help it. Maybe it'll look better in 'real life' and a different colour....like RED. I can't see myself in the Stilo, its lost the charm of the Bravo.

Stilo standard kit - impressive

The base model is reported to be competitively priced with its base model competitors, i.e Focus

The base Focus in Ireland comes with elec. windows, a/b and sod all else.
The base Stilo is set to ship here with:

Aircon
ABS
EBD
6 a/b
CD
6 speed box
e/w (all 4 in the MPV version!)

Shame that they haven't really changed the engine line-up - that 1.2 isn't up to it, the 1.6 is pushing on now (but haven't driven one so can't comment), and of course the 2.4 would cost a bomb to tax & insure - not one 2.4 will sell here.

Goes on sale here January and Fiat are reported to have a new engine line-up coming later in the year.
Anyone know anything about that?

The big question though is can Fiat crack the reliability, I've been so plagued with my Bravo I don't think I could take the risk to find out!!!

I am also dissapointed by the engines....

Why the hell cant they fit a tweakd Punto HGT engine into the Stilo. In standard form it pushes out 130BHPish. I am sure that they could make it a 2litre, bigger valves etc and get it upto 170BHP.
The 2.4 is going to be a no no for most people unless they can get over 200BHP out of it. Company Car tax over in the U.K is now on emmissions and I reckon the 2.4 is gonna be a bit high emmissions wise.

As for reliability from my perspective Fiat's are very reliable. My HGT has been mechanically faultless in 73,000 miles.
The only thing that I constantly have problems with is the paintowrk on the front bumper. It is going back to have it's 4th new bumper (so 5th including the original).

Good idea Martin

The idea of using the 1.8vvt engine is one I'm surprised Fiat have overlooked. 130BHP is ample for the Punto chassis (I own a HGT) and it might be just right for a 'Sporting' version of the Stilo. I agree the 2.4l engine is not going to be popular. Surely that will enter into Alfa 147 territory, especially when they bring out the hot version?

Have a look at this

Go to www.4car.co.uk - they have a full review of the Stilo/Stila along with all the features and stuff.

Dissapointed by this though.....

From launch in January 2002, the Stilo will be available with 1.2-litre, 1.6-litre and 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engines, a five-cylinder 2.4-litre petrol and two JTD diesels. Selespeed semi-automatic transmission is standard on the 2.4. The range will also expand with an estate at the end of 2002, and a Renault Scenic-rivalling MPV in 2003.

No version or price information available.

The 2.4 is another 5 cylinder, so that means a hooooge service bill come the 72,000 mile service :(
What a bunch of idiots, fancy making the same mistake again.

Stilo

I'll put some more pictures of the stilo up on my site this evening. I have pictures of the 3 door in broom yellow and it looks three times the car the silver one does.

Stilo

I'm sorry but it looks pants. It looks better than a Ford Faeces I suppose but that's not saying much because they are red ugly bastards. Ford I have to say make the most undesirable cars in the world. The only one that looks anything is the Puma but thats a birds car. The Mundaeo (so called because they are so mundane) should be taken off the market for being 1)Being driven by morons (generally) 2) Being so bland and crap. I only hope Fiat aren't going to go the same way!

Stilo

Yuck, urgh, etc. How could Fiat follow the styling from the last few yaers of Italian cars - Bravo, ALfa 156 etc with this hunk of metal! I'm sorry Fiat, I will not be buying one when I need to replace my Bravo. I only hope they don't drag the rest of the group down with them because currently I think I will buy an Alfa.

Stilo...

Hello

Well... i´m a bit disapointed with the look of the car, if we consider that these are the same people that made the Alfa 147... I was expecting a bit more!!

Better shots?

Better? What taken in the dark you mean. This car is minging and I can't believe the styling difference between the gorgeous looking Bravo and this hep of shite. If my Bravo was a woman I'd shag it. Stilo? Fat ugly bird you would only if you had your beer goggles on.
