Hi All

What are people's experiences with the Fiat dealers in the Portsmouth/Southampton region? Our M-Jet Panda will need its 24k service fairly soon and I'm pondering which (If either) to take it to.

All feedback welcome. :)

Avoid Perrys like the plague.

Nothing but trouble for ALL issues I had with them and friends have had similar experiences. Am going to try SGM next time in Swanwick.

Thanks for that.

A word of warning about SGM. We went there a few years back when buying our 156.

The one we test drove had a badge missing (The one on the lower rear edge of the wing). We also discovered that it's sump had been replaced. When I asked the salesman about the badge (I suspected it had been poorly repaired) he replied that they weren't supposed to have a badge on that side...

And he was being serious...

There's been some shocking stories about SGM on here. They sound like the exact reason Fiat are bottom of the Dealer sections of Driver Power etc all the time.

If youre round the South Coast, try either PDH Garages who seem to get mixed comments (think theyre in Hassocks now that the Worthing branch has gone) or Alan Gibson in Basingstoke who ive only ever read positive comments about.

Avoid Perrys. Try Middleton Fiat near Bognor Regis, used to be very good.

PDH are still at Hassocksd and also at Findon (y)

And getting increasingly possitive reviews on here it seems.

Perrys Portsmouth are still around. 3 star rating on fiat.co.uk. Think theyre like most of the Perrys group - okay on sales but avoid for anything else.

SGM in Sarisbury Green are still about and get 5 stars, though ive never heard anything particularly positive about them.

Middleton Garage near Bognor Regis get 5 stars, don't hear anything about them.

Theres also a place called Harwoods, they also get 5 stars. Theyre on the Isle of Wight though.

Finally, Autoplanet in the Milbrook area of Southampton, theyve not yet been rated.

Those are all within about 30 miles of Portsmouth City Centre (PO1), except PDH Garages who are along the coast towards Brighton. Pretty good choice considering we get a choice of two 3 star dealers and one non rated garage within 30 miles of Oxford (OX1). And the 3 stars are lucky they got that much (Perrys & Hartwell *shudders*). Mine goes to an independant or Pewsham Garages in Chippenham, about 55 miles from Oxford

More good Fiat dealers near Oxford please

PDH are my local dealer, and I have never had any issues with them (y)

I brought my Bravo from them and shortly afterwards I had issues with the gearbox freezing, they took the car in, loaned me a car and replaced the control cables for me.

when I got the car back it was spotless, no mean feat when the temps were evil in early dec, their jetwash had given up the ghost and their valeter washed it by hand !!!

That's pretty impressive, given how cr*p the weather was. Dealers should all be like that, but as we know many people experience something quite different with Fiat dealers!

Haha! Cheeky sod. :D

but it is though, I wonder if any favouritism goes on and those garage that get a low star rating will find it hard to improve as they will get little custom:confused:

I just write what i see

I dunno about any internal incentives that go on with Fiat and the dealers, but dealerships have to receive 15 responses from customers before their score is published on fiat.co.uk, so the system seems fair. It's based on a 3 month average score (ive seen scores go up and down several times) so Fiat don't seem to leave low scores hanging around on the website to put off potential customers for too long.

Some people would be put off by low ratings and therefore certain dealers may get less custom, but there's alot of people that would go to a dealer without looking on here or on fiat.co.uk, so not everyone will have even seen the scores. This gives dealers customers (or opportunities) to improve their performance & therefore receive better ratings.

It doesn't seem a bad system to me. Quite a revelation for Fiat!

Bought my Bravo from Autoplanet in Southampton a few months ago. Have only had to take it back there once so far and the service wasn't too bad. Granted they managed to "lose" my courtesy car and had to reschedule to another day, but the service department were very apologetic and helpful.

Will have to see how it goes the next time the Bravo is in need....

As recommended in other threads, my Panda (and the Barchetta) goes to Neil at NSB Autos near Fairoak. All work seems to be really good, nice price and Neil is friendly / helpful. So ticks all the boxes!
