I live on the Isle of Wight which is a small Island off the south coast of England.
I have a 2018 Fiat Ducatto 2.3DS 130CV E6 T.L Cabinato P.Lungo H1 17
it has 25000 miles
I bought it in 2020 with 18000 miles
First limp mode event August 9th 2021 Lincolnshire
Had checked at garage found on journey and fault code reset
Trip to Scotland and back, warning light no limp mode.
Took to local garage in Scotland still no idea of fault
Second limp October 2021 after a 300 mile drive.
Reset
Contacted 'Fiat expert' near Southampton and took there October 2021 however found no fault, reset the warning light and then drove 40 miles, on trip home. Limp mode
Following advice I changed the EGR valve, drove around Island on various test drives over the winter, no problem
Took on 300 mile trip April 2022 and 4 limp modes.
Again asked Fiat to help but vehicle too big, told to go to Adams Morey in local town but it was permanently closed.
Changed fuel filter.
Drove to Scotland, after 350 miles, limp mode. Called a Fiat garage in Scotland and arranged appointment in 10 days
Drove around Scotland with occasional limp modes
Took to Fiat Garage in Perth Scotland August 4th 2022 and received complicated diagnosis of a known fault
(see attached)
Drove home and one limp mode after 300 + miles
Spoke to Adams Morey and booked in to Southampton Branch.
Called Fiat Customer services but diagnosis had to be within 24 hours.
Took to Adams Morey on ferry, left there. after 2 days got diagnosis. Parts alone costing £3700
Called Fiat Customer services for financial help and am awaiting comment. Obviously I am outwith warranty.
It has taken a very long time to get this diagnosis partly because I am on an Island without a service station which will work with the commercial vehicle and compounded by test drive limitations. I do not know whether to leave the vehicle to be repaired in Southampton or if there is a more affordable route available to me, does anyone have any experience of this please?
Any advice gratefully received
