Hi everybody- is there anybody out there that have used successfully one of those small USB transmitters ( as seen on Tik- tok) so you can pair your phone with the touchscreen as I would love to have navigation. I have a apple I phone 12.

Hello,

No idea what is the small usb transmitter, but I don't trust all those 'magic' products that sellers try to sell through social media...

iPhones do not allow connecting extra bluetooth accessories except a few ones. Or at least were not allowing a couple a iOS versions back. But that's their policy. So I doubt they changed it.

Is your car a FIAT 500 (3 door) in Lounge trim, or 500 L (5 door)?

Hi, it’s a 3 door lounge. You make a good point regarding I- phones. Just I’m no very technical minded ( I’m old) just thought I’d put it on the forum in case anybody has gone down this route!!!!!

Hi, i am not using such a small USB transmittor but one of those carplay screens that are offered on those big online shops. I also have a 500L lounge 2018 where navigation is not activated on my uconnect 7' system. Decided not to mess around with that and instead purchased a 10' inch carplay screen. That works absolutely wonderfull! I have a Iphone and an Samsung phone and both connect flawlessly with either carplay or android auto giving all the features needed (so also full navigation). I sticked that screen on top of the dashboard and it also looks quite fancy and given the relative low price of the screen I am very happy. Maybe you should try that also.

Hi- thanks for your positive comments- I have been looking and I’m likely to go down the same route as you suggested as it’s the sat nav I really need although I’m pretty useless at pairing things but will give it a go!!!!
Thanks again

There are several (original) Uconnect head units on which CarPlay and A#ndroidAuto is present. In could be also a case that this feature is present, but not activated. (Normally on 500L 2018 those have an original navi, i don't know about other 500 series) In case the feature is present but not activated- it's hard but possible to activate it. At least, one can buy some software and instructions for that on italian e-bay for 60EUR. In case CarPlay is physically absent the only solution could be to buy an aftermarket head unit, or another original head unit with Carplay.... And, of cause, all these CarPlay systems are wired, all the magic boxes making wireless Carplay form wired will not work at all.

Hi, many thanks for the reply which makes a lot of sense. I haven’t got round to doing anything about it yet, but I will certainly have a look at the Italian eBay out of interest.
Regards Dave.
