Technical Fiat 16v diesel engine doblo van

Just bought this can

Initially it felt like it was running on 3 cylinders

Put fuel in it

Wouldn’t start

Waiting 30 mins started and perfectly

Then noticed it dropping power going up hill

Then it stopped , waited a few hours started , then ran for about 10 miles then into limp mode

Put in a new high pressure fuel pump . No difference

Signs of lots of previous work around the air intake

Any ideas

Computer is saying mass air control sensor but that’s not worked either
