This is the alternative to the RR day.

Meeting at Stirling uni at 12MD for a blether then off on a route organised by Dick Barton for a run and a few pics. go for some food then more of a blether, then home/camp:hippy:

camping optional!!

then some of us are camping out somewhere(suggestions?), then some of us are going to crail the next day to visit the enemy!(fast ford for some ideas for our members, honest!)(y)

Are you looking for a drive as well?

There are a couple that are worth doing - perhaps the best one (well for scenery and drive) would be Stirling to Aberfoyle over the Duke's Pass to Callander and back to Stirling (maybe via the back road to Doune); Stirling Uni up the A9 to Gleneagles then down to Glendevon and back along the Hillfoots; Stirling to Denny over to Fintry (past Carron Valley) into Arnprior and over to Lake of Menteith then back into Stirling.

could be up for that, yeah!! want to get a few pics on route!!

guys, i'm REALLY sorry about the RR day BTW and feel pretty bad about it, but DASTEK needed the cash 6 weeks in advance, and felt that I HAD to postpone, or else it could have turned into a monumental failure due to the risk that we wouldn't get the minimum 10 cars that DASTEK asked for.

so once again, sorry, and we will look again at getting a RR together in the future,

steve

+1 vote for Dukes Pass route, great photo opportunities by Loch Achray and Loch Katrine. Good scoff beside Loch Vennachar. Whoops starting to sound too enthusiastic for old duffer! (y)

There's a campsite at Auchenbowie about a mile from Stirling services.

I'm about 2 miles form the Uni so if I don't turn up I deserve to be shot (unless I'm physically not in the area at the time!)

We could raffle who gets to pull the trigger if you don't show. :rifle:

:laugh2:

With that comment, I'd have guessed Carronshore if I hadn't already known!!! ;-)

Hey, steady on! It's Carron, I'll have you know. Other side of the burn. Pfft...

/walks off, nose out off joint mode on/ :toff:

lol

Tony, had a quick google for that campsite you referred to - seems it's not open til April so maybe have to think of an alternative? :smart:

Or I can send a nice begging email to see what they say?

that means no-one will be there, just gatecrash!! LOL

A Lake??? this is Scotland mate, we only have 1 lake and it's about 20 miles West of Stirling...

How many are camping? If it is 2 or 3, I'll speak to the wife (who generally goes nuts when I make these kinds of suggestions) and see if there is available floor space in the garden. If that isn't an option, Crail is about 1hr -1hr 15min from Stirling...

Tony, my apologies...the side of the burn you live on is indeed the deciding factor...I spent many a year plodding through a burn looking for golf balls and sticklebacks!!!

sorry, meant the river!! lol(y)

we don't like to look a gift horse in the mouth Mr Barton, but I would rather be out of town, cheers for the offer though. we don't know till the day, and also don't have to worry about winding folks neighbours up by keeping them awake all night long, unless they don't mind drunken rants lol! was thinking about a disposable BBQ with a few beers to go down on top!!

If I'm really honest, I quite like the idea of a bit of camping in the wild, always get a good craich!

but again, cheers for the offer!

was looking at the touch road, theres a bit of forestry there, could go there for a bit of camping! will shove a lnik on for you to have a look!

The Touch Tree Monster is getting nowhere near my crack! :wave:I'll be in me bed with the covers over my head praying for you poor souls in the woods (don't wear any checked shirts and NEVER say "can you squeal like a pig?" ):surprised:

:laugh4:

Better yet, there is a campsite a half mile from the Uni - I drive past it each morning, will see if it is open, they have caravan's going in almost daily and I see a lot of 'campers' at the weekend so they might be willing to open a patch for a few tents...the place in Touch is further away from Crail and would be a 10 minute drive plus access isn't good so you'd be walking a fair bit to find a spot to camp (that also won't have the landowner getting you up early doors with a shotgun!)

Here it is - http://www.witchescraig.co.uk/index.html - how many folk could be interested in a pitch? This is a week early from opening so they may be willing for a one nighter if enough people can make it to camp out. There are no pubs nearby (well within walking distance, but I live about 1 mile further down the road so I could sort out some kind of shuttle service to the local pub and eatery (or of course there is the town).
