We have a 2023 Ducato based motorhome.

If I try to start the engine too quickly after turning on the ignition, the engine warning light (yellow) comes on. No limp mode, and no other problem, and it extinguishes aftet a few "correct" starts.

It's the only time the warning light comes on.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I know it's still under warranty, and took it to Motus in Glasgow (but they are basically useless and couldn't sort it - just said bring it back).

And what's the error stored in the ECU?
But why do you try to start the engine too quickly? How long do you have to wait so it wouldn't be too quickly? And does the engine start when you try, or it doesn't start and you still have to wait plus you have the warning light?

You're supposed to wait about 20 seconds between ignition on and starting. If I try to start too early nothing happens - engine doesn't turn. Don't have details of the error code but was told by someone with a similar problem a software update was needed.

I was told when the ignition was turned on, to wait until the majority of icons go out before starting the engine.

With a diesel I was taught turn on the ignition and wait for the glowplugs to warm up
Old lorries on a cold morning used to take a minute or more
New diesels are better but its still not instant
and computers take a little time to start up and shut down (hence having to switch everything off shut all doors and wait half a minute for the computer to shut down before disconnecting the battery)
So perhaps you are offending the computer by turning on the ignition and going straight to start like you could with an old petrol engine, without giving the computer time to sort itself out and the glowplugs to work?

I don't think modern diesels are as reliable or easy to repair as they were, because they have got far more complicated to meet emissions regulations
