Hi all. After a bit of advice. 59 plate fist 500 1.3 multi jet. Engine failed today and my question is can you put a 1.3 cdti Vauxhall engine in? If so is it just straight forward or does anything have to be changed/coded? Many thanks.

I think there is a difference depending on age and if it has DPF or not.
Often the people to talk to are the car breakers yard.
They are very similar , but I don't know for sure when model type changed.

Thanks for you reply, very much appreciated. I’ve spoken to a couple through eBay that say they do fit. They look identical. Would a 59 fiat and the likes of a 59 corsa for instance both have dpf?

Not necessarily, I think it depends when registered etc. Also some like vans had and some didn't.
One of my daughters had a 1.3MJ in a 06 Fiat Brande Punto which didn't, One of my 2010 Doblos did and another same age didnt', though they are 1.6s.
I have a 2014 Vauxhall Combo1.3MJ that does, but that is the later type engine.
