Hope someone can help me. I have had my 2008 Fiat Ducato automatic, 3 litre for 8 years. The first 7 1/2 years its been great, however the last 6 months I have had the Electro Valve replaced 3 times. Has anyone else had the same problem and can anyone tell me what is causing the problem. The check engine signal comes on and the car has no power going up an incline. The computer at the repairer only indicates that the electro valve needs to be replaced, but no information as to what is causing it to become faulty. The last time was after a 4000 km trip.

Which valve did you mean? The EGR valve controlling vacuum to the EGR unit or the throttle valve that restricts air flow through the intake manifold?

Thank you, I'm not sure which one, it could be the EGR valve. The mechanic's report just says Electro Valve. I'll check out the other posts on water ingress. Thank you all for your help.

fit a egr blanking plate and the cheater and do away with the thing they get water in them

Thanks again for everyones help!

Ive got nothing useful from the service people or Fiat themselves.

I will try and get them to confirm which valve. Hopefully its the EGR and i can modify as you suggest.

Finally figured out what happened. The first replacement was done after 7 years so acceptable, the next two within 6 months was after the windscreen and been replaced, so obviously the tray had been moved away from the windscreen allowing the rain water to go into the engine bay. Let's see if that was it now that I have sealed the gap. Thanks everyone for your help.
