Hi guys and girls, I ran a diagnostic with my topscan reader, it came up with a fault code for my ecu, a B code, it states its a history problem, now my steering wheel is heavy when I drive, when I engage the city mode my steering is heavy too, could this be down to my ecu beginning to pack in.

No. Probably a power supply / wiring issue somewhere.

I would start by cleaning the earth cable contacts as in this post:

You could also try running a secondary earth like a jump lead from battery negative to engine and see if that helps

Also get the battery health checked. The electric steering will fail with low battery power or a bad earth, but sometimes the torque sensor in the steering fails and unless you have the correct knowledge and equipment it’s easier to just replace the whole column.

I like to add a new earth wire, take off one of the 13mm bolts holding down the clutch slave cylinder, take it up thru the bottom of battery tray (there is a convenient hole, and bolt it down on the battery tray fixing bolt nearest the front, making sure you clean and scrape away paint and surface rust.
