Anyone know if you can put an Ecotek valve on a carb panda?

I dont know if it has the bits that the valve fits to?

Has anyone done it before?

I not sure if it will meet the claims of the manufacturers but thay ar very cheap on ebay and thought it was worth a try.

No, they're absolutely crap - don't waste your money.

If their theory worked, wouldn't all manufacturers fit a version of it?

(cue massive backlash from people who've paid for one and have convinced themselves it's good)

Youre probably right, I was thinking of one for around a tenner - there are some on ebay at this price.

That tenner would probably be better spent on fixing up rust etc.

I've heard they don't work on cars that basically have an ECU 'cos it'll just compensate for it over time.

But old Panda engines have ECUs?

Main gripe with them is they alter your mixture, making it run weak at times which isn't good. Also, if you don't get it put in a location which is dead central in the manifold (i.e. not off a servo tapping for instance directly over one intake port) then it'll make one cylinder run weaker than the other three.

True - A car with an ecu will adjust around the device - it sees weak mixture on the lambda sensor and richens things up. So it's pointless there.

On a carb car, it won't compensate - it'll just run weak at times.

All in all, it buggers about with the settings on the car - and not in a good way. If you want to optimise, get it remapped or tuned properly.

oh, and ecotec have already been done once by the trading standards people, I'm led to believe.
