Does anybody know if these are earth points (pics attached) and whether it's possible to use them to earth my 12v campervan conversion electrical system? Rather than creating a new point by scraping paint way on the chassis I was wondering whether adding to this point might be more practical?

Appreciate any thoughts, thanks!

Yes, as has already been confirmed it is earth or chassis grounding point. Probably for rear door demistor, rear lamp cluster, etc.

My PVC uses an insulated return for the negative, as is typical in motorhome 12V installations.

The only necessary "earth" connection is that from the 12V distribution board -ve terminal to the starter battery, -ve or chassis. On x244 & x230 versions of the Ducato, perhaps the best point is at the starter battery -ve under the bonnet. On later vehicles with the starter battery under the cab floor again the starter battery negative, or the adjacent battery earth point would be good places.

Please bear in mind that the purpose of the earth connection on the habitation electrics, is to provide a return path for current from the vehicle alternator. That is habitation battery charging current, and the 12V supply for a 3 way fridge.

As you appear to be doing a DIY conversion, you may find the following link interesting.
