General Ducato engine Types

I'll start with what i hope is a simple question for you very helpful folk. I have a 97/98 Ducato 1.9TD which should be pulling a Hymer motorhome behind it. More on that later. Firstly i have heard rumours that the Ducato shares an engine with some other French vans, the most common thread is a Peugeot engine. Is this true and how can i tell mine is a Fiat or Peugeot? There are no clues like 'Fiat' written on the rockerbox. Be warned that this is the first of a whole sorry tale about why this thing has not fired in over 3 months.

Thanks for the link, the question has been answered in full. The engine is now officially a Fiat unit which i hope will help with the diagnosis of this very sick unit.
