Ducato Ducato engine probs.

Hi Everybody, this is my first post. I have a Fiat Ducato 2.8jtd motorhome (swift Sundance 590rs lux) and seem to have a major problem with the engine. I broke down on the A1 near Morpeth and had to be ferried home on the back of a low loader. I have had a quick look and it was low on coolant, tried to fill it up, but it just poured out of the exhaust pipe. I dread to think about what's caused this and how much it is going to cost. Has anybody experienced anything similar with this particular engine?

Head gasket blown .you may be lucky with a simple new gasket replacement , problem is timing belt needs to come off , refitting timing belt is not for inexperienced mechanic

Many thanks robin123, we have now stripped the engine, its about as bad as it gets, 2 valves have snapped, engine has locked and the piston has cracked. Its a complete new engine, possible clutch e.t.c. I have managed to source one complete for £650.00 complete with a three month warranty on 24/7 parts, a quick response from them. Fitting sometime this week, thanks for your help, big bertha
