Well I guess it had to happen, door handle came off in my hand

Looks like the front Hinge is broken and the rear black plastic tab. I assume this means a new handle and not just the front hinge?
Also any reason why the amazon ones wouod not work? They are about a fifth of the price of a dealer part.

I will check out the guides to fit it, seems doable and a bit fiddly.

Thanks

Thanks, will do a search. I was just not sure whether the amazon/eBay handles were worth buying especially at 1/6th of the factory cost

Thanks all. Seem the cheap ones work and thankfully are only around £10 more. Has anyone near Uxbridge done this?

I spent a decent few hours yesterday replacing the handle mechanism on the drivers door of my 500. The old handle came out in bits fair easily and the new one was a bit fiddly wasn't too bad either. But disconnecting the connecting rods from the handle to the lock actuator is a bloody nightmare. The youtube video I was using said' just ease the rod from the plastic holder' and it just slipped out - not mine - I ended up breaking the red connector and all the rest fought every millimetre of the way. So beware, the plastic connectors are fragile and difficult!
While I wait for new connectors I put the rest of the door back together and closed the door and tried the new handle - works perfectly. What doesn't work now is the door lock on either the key or remote. Hmm.

Probably worth replacing the hinge at the first sign of wear as that's a 10 minute job.

Agree - if it was just the hinge it would be an easy fix. My hinge only broke when the whole handle came off in my hand.

Well new handle ordered, I suspect its going to be a faff for a few hours and the red tabs are difficult to remove, will just have to see how it goes I guess.

I wonder if spraying WD40 on the connectors will make a difference. If it does not come out easily will have to go to the garage I guess.

How much are the red connectors?

Warming up the inside of the door may help prevent the clips snapping?

The clips on any door rod are always tight, and feel like they'll break before they go. Normally just a case of pushing the exact way to get them off, and strong fingers!
