After the winter our Seicento has been leaking quite a bit, after the snow melted the driver foot-well was completely flooded. Now I've cleaned up that mess, but I would like to stop this happening again.

All the threads here about leaking point to the sunroof as a likely candidate, I have noticed it dripping a bit before. The sunroof also doesn't seem to close completely, there is a lot of noise while driving fast. Once inside the water seems to end up in the corner above the drivers seat, the roof covering there is sometimes damp and a bit miscoloured :(

NOW - everyone says check the "drain holes", but I really can't find any. The sunroof is not electric, but rather lifted by a spring that can be pulled tight with a winch inside. I've taken the whole thing out, but can only see the rubber-seal, which I've given a good clean. The question is - do ALL Seicentos have these drain holes? This is a 2000 sporting model and bought in Germany, although that's irrelevant.

Thanks for any help!

there are two i know off in the corners at the rear side of the sunroof. little holes right in the corner, the pipe then runs down behind the rear pannels inside the car and out near the skirts. if you pop the rear panel off next to the back seats you can see the pipe.

In answer to thread title

no more than likely as not all centos have a sunroof fitted

I guess I'll rephrase the question to "do all centos with a sun-roof have drain holes" then :)

I'll have another look today, and take some photos. It may well be a "dodgy dealer sunroof" - although I thought I'd seen another cento parked down the road with exactly the same.

same thing happened with my sei, the drivers side footwell kept flooding, I found out it was the drain holes underneath the drivers side sill that had got blocked up but dirt from the road, i unblocked these and i could see the water dissapearing from my footwell,

hope this helps.

Ryan: interesting! Where exactly is this drain hole? I had a look, but couldn't see anything inside or outside?

Attached are some photos of the sunroof, in order: First, the opening spring, the sunroof opened. (Is this a standard Seicento sunroof, or a "dodgy dealer" one? :))

Then the rear-corner and front-corner (with the sunroof out). From the descriptions here I would guess the drain-holes should be there, but I can't see any. Are they under the rubber-seal?

Finally, a picture of how the thing doesn't really close properly. This has also gotten worse I think, even doing 40kmh on the way to work today made a the wind sound like a cheap horror movie soundtrack.

Hi

That looks like a post factory fit.

The factory sunroof fits into a deep pressed depression in the roof and the drian holes drain from this depression.

There is an outer seal and an inner seal and the drain drains water that might by pass the outer sea, so the inner seal is not troubled.

Your sunroof probably does not use drains, but relies on a 100 % outer seal.

You might have to take it to a sun roof specialist.

if it is post factory fit then it wont have the drain holes i was on about, they are only small, the best way i can describe it is the lip where you would put the jack to lift car up there is a little gap on it where the water shoud drain, however I dont think this will apply to your car sorry i was no real help. i do know how you feel with your car keep filling up with water, mine did it alot last year and this year lol,

im not sure but if you do have a sun roof then I would check to see if they are unblocked as when they block up they iverflow into the front footwells! great design, i found out the hardway. your car looks smart btw

if that was for me i do have a sunroof, im just thinkinf if the guy with the pro fit roof may have the holes underneith might be worth looking if thats where moisture is getting in.

again if its for me thanks about the car cant wait to finish the project and update sig.

on the standard sunroof, if you remove the headliner, there are some plastic pipes on each drainhole. Rear ones go down b-pillar and just drips into the void behind the plastic trims under the windows in the back. Front ones go down the a-pillar a drip into void between the inner and outer arch.
You could spend an age trying to unblock drainholes, but by removing the headliner you can remove the actual pipes pretty easy, either replace the pipes with new or unblock off the car, its alot easier ;) Hope this helps anyone that has this problem.

Edit: Both times i have removed a headliner the drain pipes have been clear so blockages are easy to find..

To the OP, i shouldn't think it'd be hard to completely remove the sunroof on your car, clean up all surfaces and refit with plenty of sealant. Should be easy enough and not cost much. If you still have leaks then it will be time to go get a new one fitted professionally.

Does anyone have a photograph of where the drains come out?
