Anybody know how to do this. The reason why I am asking is, that I will try to open it to see, if a temperature censor kan be put in a model without aut. aircon, but with the trip computer capable of showing temp. I have tried lifting the visible tap, but I wasnt able to depart the two plastic pieces.

Hi Soren,

I haved seen how to open the side mirror before. U need to remove both the mirror including the lower wide angle view.The tricky and risky part is to remove the lower mirror. it might break when u try to remove it. u need to use flexible metal piece to remove the lower mirror.then u need to remove the upper mirror, this is only hold by clips, just use a screwdriver to remove it.then you can see 4 screws to open the cover.
be caution, if you break the mirror,then you have to replace the whole side mirror.
let me know........

Thanks for the tip for opening the side mirror. I myself have an irritating intermittent problem on my JTD ELX where the passenger side mirror sometimes folds in and sometimes doesn't when using the mirror retractor switch. It seems to work best in damp conditions but that is not always true. Fiat said that I need to replace the whole mirror (about £100!).

I've considered opening it up to check the connections but I'm tempted to try squirting some moisture repellant in there first ("Wet Start" type spray). Does anyone have any comments on my suggestion before I try it?

Thanks.:(

Wel documented problem...wd40 or similar didnt work on anybodys yet and its bound to be the elctrical thingy inside thats gone. Seen it first hand only the other week. Some piccies posted on the website forum show the problem...afraid its a warranty or money type replacement!
