diagnostic help

This has probably been covered plenty of times before, but i need help working out why my PC's speed has taken a serious plunge..

used to load games and programs quickly and took around 2 seconds to open Firefox, today to open and post this it took well over 30seconds :bang:

Done the usual checks, clear caches, deleted temp folders, virus check found nothing (Kaspersky updated this morning)

Toshiba L300D
AMD Turion X2 2.0GHz
4GB Ram Memory
500GB HDD

looked on Task Manager; (roughly)
Total Memory 3581
Cahced 1333
Avaliable 2001
Fee 668

CURRENT (differs from screenshot)
Processes; 82 CPU; 49% (at idle!!) 98% Peak (opening firefox) Physical Mem; 46%

just closed everything and left the PC for a while, came back and the CPU was running at 100% while idling.

clicked to open resource manager to see what was using what and ended up getting BSOD :bang:

so obviously something is hogging the CPU

Can you switch to the processes tab and sort by CPU to see which process is responsible?

got on it, according to Processes and Resource Manager it was Kasperky :/ that alone was taking up 59% while it was aparrently idling. will try and screenshot, but got BSOD again. contumplating getting important files of onto my Windows 8 hard drive and scan that for viruses and fresh install this drive.
