Sorry
but what are the alternatives to Tutela CVT NG in the punto 1.2 16v speedgear
i mean what other oils on the market are CVT 2
shell?
Fuchs?
Mobil?
help me plz

Only use the recommended oil in CVT gearbox
it's not a normal oil it crystalizes under pressure
and then reverts back to fluid state when the pressure
is relaxed. This has the effect of stopping the
bands slipping on the variable diameter tapered
drive cones.

Any other oil can damage the way the gearbox
works.

but i cant find it even in shop4parts.co.uk i only found Tutela GI/A

've been searching around for the best price for Stepspeed/Steptronic CVT oil and have come across a number of oils from different manufacturers for different makes of cars with CVT boxes and at different prices. So far I've found.....

Esso EZL 799
BMW ECVT (for MINI which appears to be as above)
Tutela CVT universal
Tutela CVT ng
Fuchs ATF CVT

I've been warned off the Unipart CVT oil before so not listing that here although I suspect it is actually one of the above.

Audi has CVT as do Ford, Nissan, etc. (BMW do a 'Steptronic' but it has a torque converter and is not CVT) All of these must recommend a CVT oil.

I suspect that many makes of car have similar ZF manufactured CVTs so surely all the CVT oils suitable for ZF boxes will do for a MG?

Any more?

ah £50 to fill up my gearbox with CVT NG if i empty and refill it? rather than change this unnecesarily how can we be sure the oil needs changing, i got told the transmission fluid shouyld be a pinkish colour and if its brown needs changing, is this correct? would adding lucas gear additive help with a problem?

it should be changed every 24k miles. if its brown its dead fluid often caused by some other problem, shop4parts sell it and donated members get 10% discount.

you need to change filter too that's only about £25 cheap for an auto box filter some are over 100

edit filters have gone up s4p price inc delivery, vat and fiat forum discount will be £90.62 for fluid and filters

note Haynes give wrong amount for fluid needed iirc correct amount is about 3.6 ltrs
