I don't recall changing one on that engine but I have had crank sensors where all fixings have been removed, but the heat of the engine over time has expanded the plastic causing a tight fit, If that is the only cause then spraying oil around it and gentle twisting/revolving with molegrips or similar may help.
I have also had it on ABS sensors at the wheel for similar reason.

Hi. Just scrolling through these threads, looking for info. I have recently removed the gearbox on my 2.2 2007 puma engine, ducato, and managed to pull the wires out of the sensor, pictured above. I have bought a new plug as couldnt get the pins out of the old one, but the new plug comes pre wired. Can anyone tell me which wire goes where on the plug? I have a yellow wire and a green wire. Any help very much appreciated

Any chance you can do a bit of detective work using a magnifying glass to see which wire came from where, it may get you out of trouble as a last resort.

Sadly, nothing left inside the plug. I was wondering if it mattered, and was just an open /closed circuit

I know this is an old thread but if anyone reads this DO NOT REMOVE THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE CRANK SENSOR RETAINING BRACKET . The bracket position is set at factory.
