Hi

Iam wanting to replace the 12v socket with the cigerette lighter kit.

Question is how hard is it to fit and does the socket illuminate. (orange circle) like the dashboard does at night???:confused:

Thanks

M

I may be wrong here but I think all you need to get your hands on in the little cigarette lighting part.

If it is then I am pretty sure all you need to do is plug it into the existing power socket to covert it to a cigarette lighter kit.

As I say I may be wrong. I'm sure someone will confirm

I'd probably agree with that Brav-Oh!

I think the smoking kit simply removes the cover over the socket, gives you the heated element part which you use to ligth your cigarette and gives you a plastci ashtray thing that uses up one of your cup holders.

Doesnt the socket light up already? Its been a while since I had my TomTom on at night but I'm sure it lights up orange when you take the cover off. I could be wrong though

Yeah it lights up at night orange (at least mine does).

I believe the cigarette lighter only uses the power to heat the small element in the lighter unit itself. So yeah simply plugging in a lighter element would do the job.

I don't know what Fiat charge for the 'smoking kit' but you can pick up those lighter units for a few pounds in most car shops. If you can do without the ashtray that Fiat give too then I'd just buy a univeral one.

I've just found out last week that my Fix & Go kit has a larger power plug than a cigarette lighter. It obviously fits my Bravo power socket, but wouldn't fit the cigarette lighter in the wife's C4 when she got a puncture. However my mobile phone charger, satnav, and USB charger all fit both sockets ( C4 and Bravo ). The ciggy lighter from the C4 just rattles loose in my Bravo.

weird!

But in saying that, a 12v electric air inflator I was given just rattled about in my old punto's cigarette lighter socket and everything else fitted fine!

Perhaps not really.

An aftermarket inflater would obviously have to fit any "standard" ciggy lighter socket, which may be lower power rating than the 180 watt rating of the Bravo "power socket". The load of a Fix & Go kit, that has to pump latex goo into the tyre, may well be too much for a ciggy socket.

Off from BRAVO eLearn:

There is a standard type current socket in the middle of the dashboard in front of the tunnel console which can be used for the cigar lighter or for connecting instruments or equipment operating on 12 V.
The boot compartment contains a second power point similar to the first.
The cigar lighter heater coil can be placed in the front socket of the console; simply press the knob to operate it: after a few seconds it will come out automatically, ready for use.
The ring around the first socket lights up when the side lights are on.
The sockets are equipped with a thermal protection device: this protection cuts off the power supply if devices that absorb a lot of energy are connected.
The circuit for each of the two current sockets is protected by a dedicated fuse and controlled by the ignition-operated exclusion relay located in the junction unit under the dashboard.

I hope that explains one of Your questions.
Now time for the second one:

1. Extract the cigar lighter.
2. Gently extract the cigar lighter seat (2a) using the special tool (2b).
The tool must attach itself to the recesses (2c) of the cigar lighter seat.

Tool = 1876044000
Description = Calliper
Function = Extracting cigar lighter

3. Detach the electrical connection.

Hope that answers second question about if it's hard to replace it :)

Someone who has a copy of ePer for Bravo can check the part number for cigar lighter/current socket so that will help you to get the original part that will fit perfectly in the oddments pocket.

Let us know when You get it.

I don't know what Fiat charge for the 'smoking kit'...
An astonishing £40 on Bravo! :eek:

I guess they have to charge that though to recover the costs they incur when the idiots at Tychy put a cigarette lighter into the boot of almost every Panda Active they build, despite it not having a 12v socket :rolleyes:

I must have about 2 dozen lighters and about a dozen ashtray pots in my office... I wonder if there's a market for them on eBay? :p

No lads - panda's only socket is in glove box - they just ADD lighter and ashtray to the car even though the car doesn't have the lighter socket...

Grande Punto and Bravo may have the boot socket (if you order that as an extra) but panda doesn't have it even as an option.

They just trow them two things in the boot of the car :) That's what he meant I believe.

Yes, that is what I meant, that's why I said...

Sorry if that was confusing for some people :confused:
