I have a bit noice from rear end of mij 1987 4x4.
I have no backseat so it sounds coming from below that area.
I suspect propshaft hanger bearings or rear wheel bearings.
Rear diff had run a while with almost no oil so can also be cause.

How to find if bearings are ok? If i lift rear and rotate wheel the diff an propchaft rotatetes too so hard to feel if a wheel bearings is bad.

How to inspect bearings individually

Disconnect drive shaft from differential.

Then check for rough bearing

i have got to replace the diff input/pinion oil seal on Talon, i am tempted to also replace the bearing in the diff too... if its easy and can be done while changing the oil seal, though i suspect i would have to go inside the diff housing to change it.

yes make sure that the prop shaft is all marked up before taking anything apart. i sadly did one and i have never yet managed to get it balanced. :(
