Central Locking pops up!

Hi - I have just bought an S reg 1.8 HLX, love the car. BUT - Has anyone experienced problem with the remote central locking / alarm where you lock it, and come back to it a few hours later and find it has UNlocked itself??

I saw it happen from my front room, the locks just popped up and the indicators flashed as they normally do when you press the blip, but I didn't have "the blip" anywhere near me!

Help please?

try leaving the keys on a flat surface where nothing can touch them and see if it does it then. i have a HGT and when i keep putting the keys in my pocket it frequently opens the doors again!

This doesn't help but I have the same problem with my HGT. I leave the car at work and the keys are locked in my locker all day, come back to the car after work and sometimes its open, happens at home sometimes too. I haven't seen the indicators flash but have heard the alarm beep. Any ideas anyone?
(at least I now know it's not me going mad or forgetfull)

A daft thing to check, but I am a vehicle security/audio engineer by trade. A customer of mine that I fitted a Clifford Concept600 to his Fiat Coupe Turbo had a similar (albeit intermittant)problem a couple of years back. He'd had it back to Fiat numerous times & as per usual they blamed the alarm/install. After the 3rd visit, he brought it back to me. Not bragging, (much) I had it sussed within half an hour. It turned out the Fiat Coupe run's an oddball boot light, whereas, if the boots left open the light will turn out after so many minutes to save battery power, & also if you lock the car with the boot open, a few minutes later, it will unlock itself again. It turned out his boot switch was only just/not connecting every time. Now I've only just bought our HGT so havnt really had chance to check it to see if it's the same sort of system, (I would hazard a guess it is), so may be worth checking. BTW does the alarm stay armed or disarm when the car unlocks. Feel free to post me or ask any further questions. Like I say I'm still getting to grips with ours, so may not know all the answers yet. HGT Alarm

Hi guys,

I have an S reg HGT 147. The alarm doesn't make any noise! not even when i arm it. The alarm does work because the indicators flash and if i leave the sunroof open(for example) the indicators start going barmy. Has someone possibly "muted" my alarm? and if so how can i make it noisy again!!

Fiat can reset the alarm so you get the bleeps etc
EG the alam can be set for differant countries

That tends to happen if the contacts on the boot lid are covered in crap or one of the doors aint shut properly, try cleaning the rear contacts.
