Anyone know the proper procedure for installing the o ring on the cam on the vacuum pump side of the cam? I didn't take the motor apart so I don't know if one was there or not. Parts diagram shows the o ring but it feels like there is nothing holding it in place. I am worried that the vacuum pump won't get oil and if the o ring moves towards the cam it might get chewed by the cam and get in the oil and plug a passage. Is the o ring supposed to be there? The o ring came in a head gasket kit and shown in the parts diagram. I have a new vacuum pump gasket. 2013 Abarth. Repair manual does not mention it. Nothing found on YouTube or Google. Thanks!

Hello,

The o-ring is ment to seal two round surfaces.

Where I've put the blue line there's not enough space to put the o-ring.
Where I've put the green lines there could be enough space, but the surfaces of the rod (?) are not round, so it won't seal.

But I know much about mechanics and nothing about the Abarth. So can be mistaken.

Can you post the part number so we can see the whole diagram?

It's part 11, and the description text for the part says it is for the turbo engine. The first green line is the cam position wheel so it can't go on that. The blue line to the right is where the vacuum pump fits into the cam carrier. Can't fit in there.

Where are they o-ring is now in the picture doesn't make sense.

Strange. It'd be good to get the workshop manual. Can't find nothing here for the Abarth, but the MOPAR site lists other models where this oring is used. Perhaps at least one would be available online ;) Have you tried finding one?
No info anywhere I can find. Will call the dealer and see if I can talk to a tech.
