I took delivery of my newest daily driver yesterday. In accordance with tradition I have (technically) a convertible (more than 80% of the roof opens) and we have an yellow weather warning for rain today and amber tonight.

Cleaned up pretty nicely.

There may be some Broom yellow company for the Seicento soon as my Bravo will either be moving on or becoming a more hardcore track car.

100,000 miles give or take, seven owners, MOT until April with no advisories, loads of advisories in the last two MOT's so she's either had money spent on her or it's a "My mate's an MOT tester" one this time around. I'll have a good look around in the dry and find out.

Looks like when the new windscreen was fitted they took a chunk of the wiper valance with it. It has been patched with pop riveted Aluminium. Apart from that my first impressions are favorable.

All the electrical stuff works. Engine sounds sweet, long clutch pedal but that could just be the cable (not the end of the world if it's a 100,000 mile clutch it's a survivor). The stereo isn't very well fitted but that's knit picky.

First jobs. I've replaced the standard reverse bulb with an LED bleeping one. This is a tradition now as I need to reverse out of my driveway and the Seicento is silent compared to my Bravo.

Drilled holes in the tail light clusters to let years of water out.

Proper wash and polish. There are a few minor dents and marks but again 100,000+ miles she's not going for concourse.

The full length sunroof makes cleaning the upholstery a doddle.

Dried out in no time at all.

Buy temporary (I think they usually last 30 days or so) 'learner insurance' separatley.

I think It cost me £35 for 30 days comprehensive under my provisional licence for my Cinq Sporting with my dad as a second driver i.e. 'instructor'. I'll see if I can remember which company I bought the insurance from.

Also, the more in advance you get insurance quotes (14 days+) the cheaper the quote will tend to be.

Refresh the quotes every few hours as well as the price difference can be a few hundreds; don't ask me why!

Definitely don't give up just like that!

I'm guessing the sense of urgency means they can basically be ticket touts and sell for an elevated premium.

As your forum name suggests I also prefer the Cinquecento and have had my eye on a Broom yellow Sporting with no sunroof for a while. The original plan was to swap my Bravo for it but if he prefers the Seicento it works out better all round.

He gets a car he prefers and I keep the car I have spent a lot of time, money and effort bonding with.

So I have had the Seicento advertised for sale on another site and have some good news.

She's going home.

Well Sicily at least. Provisionally sold to someone who has a holiday home over there and wants a nice Italian right hand drive car and the Soleil roof was th clincher.

I could have ruined the old girl this Winter with salt, grit and twits on the road and I almost bought an Idea for the 1.4 engine swap so it's better all round.

The car should have been collected Sunday but so far nobody has turned up, no calls, no texts, no emails; no contact whatsoever.

So the old girl is up for sale again and if there is no contact between now and the sale the deposit left will be deducted from the final sale price.

Her loss potentially someone else's gain.

I've been offered £250 for the roof and could easily make more selling other parts but I do not want to break such a nice car.

My Bravo's MOT is due on the 25th is she fails then the Seicento could become my daily.
