Phoned up this morning to book a service and Boston's in Milford have closed down! Anyone got any info on this. Really shocked as it was such a good garage and been there over 50 years.

Phoned up this morning to book a service and Boston's in Milford have closed down! Anyone got any info on this. Really shocked as it was such a good garage and been there over 50 years.I don't know anything about it but i thought they were quite popular as i even used to see a fleet of Ulysees in London from there, so they must've been good.
There's alot of competition for Fiat Dealers in that area though - down here we have like 2 within 20miles of eachother, and one is part of a big chain that has a ropey reputation.
In Staffordshire there's already Platts & B S Marsons, plus TJ Vickers not too far away in Telford, and all seem to have decent reputations, so i guess there's just not enough people to go round
Bostons still come up on the dealer locator on fiat.co.uk though - probably the usual story - the website will be updated in August

Huge shock eh!I’ve used them for years in fact brought my Ex demonstrator 57 Bravo from them, I'm disappointed that Fiat have not informed us of an alternative, my sons car is still under manufacturer’s warranty.
I suppose the nearest to me is Arbury at Aldridge sadly lacks the personal touch of Bostons though

shocked, only like 5 mins from my house used them a lot for bits for my uno turbo alan the parts manager was very good

what incentive is there to becoming a Fiat dealership?
Not much with Fiat UKs near non-existent advertising. You say Doblo, Qubo or New Bravo to anyone and they look at you blankly unless they happen to be a member on here! :bang:
Wonder if Fiat UK gave Bostons an incentive to go as they wanted Platts to cover the area? Im not an expert with these things but seems odd that a dealer with 50 years reputation should go and then another replace it straight away. Especially as Platts have been given an Abarth franchise fairly recently & also have Alfa, all nearby in Stoke on Trent.
Kinda dispells my idea of their not being the demand for a dealer in the area if one re-opens straight away!
Your view about Arbury lacking the personal touch is so correct, after dealing with Derek and hism team at Bostons for a lot of years being pitched into the corporate smoked glass and chrome image at Arbury was/is quite a shock!

Totally agree my friend with your good wishes to Derek,I too have years of dealing with this family firm..
I traveled from Brownhills preferring this service even turned down a cheaper option on buying my Bravo from Arnold Clark knowing I would recieve good after service Arbury have a lot to learn

I was thinking more along the lines of poor warranty rate, small profit on new cars, no set menu pricing, lack of control over dealerships and stupid 3rd year warranty that p*sses of customer & dealer alike.....and Fiat wonder why they are at bottom of surveys

Lets see what the future holds with regards to your no doubt sincere pledges about customer service, personally I sincerely hope that your promises are borne out totally, a dealership swimming against what seems to a tide of generally negative reports would be a blessing!!!

Some of the Dealer network , some more than others, we all know the name that seems to crop up a lot of the time.

Ah, so the owner retired? That explains the replacement dealership (Platts) being set-up so quickly. The closure must've been planned for long enough for Fiat to arrange an alternative. Wonder if/when Fiat or Platts will contact Bostons old customers.
Customers turning up to an empty dealership isn't really the right way to go about letting people know
Heard a few things about Arbury. Wonder if Guests being located so close is Fiats idea of watching the least sucessful of the two jack it in. You don't usually see two Fiat dealers within such close proximity. Id like to think Guests is the better outfit, what with them also having an Alfa franchise, but Autoworld Chestefield has Fiat, Alfa and Abarth & you don't hear much praise about them

Ah i see. Tbh i don't know much about that side of things, except the shocking variations in service prices & the (surely World-renowned) Fiat 3rd year warranty :bang:
I was talking to a honda tech recently who laughed at the 3rd year policy Fiat have when I explained it and couldn't understand the servicing pricing as honda is the same across the board.
Now it's not rocket science to see why fiat come bottom of JD power league is it
