General Bike rack

I thought I would try my old bike rack on the 500 and found it fits and adjusts a treat (bottom straps are attached to bumper mounting bracket, not bumper). I have read that such racks are technically illegal due to the tailgate not being load bearing, but cannot find confirmation. Obviously I will need to use a lightboard as the number plate and lights are obscured. I already have a lightboard, but will need to install a seven pin connector. If I do use it, it will only be used very occasionally and for relatively short trips, so I do not intend spending a fortune on the latest gear.

If there is any chance that you will sell the car on, have a 13 pin socket fitted. I tow a caravan with my 500 ! Just left click on the picture to see it the right way up...
