Hello everyone!

I have a 2013 Bravo Multiair which seems to need a front right axial rod. However, it appears that the previous owner had replaced the steering rack with one from a different car model, so instead of a Male - to - female rod, my car has a male - to - male one. The writing on the rod seems to be MOOG 623 16085 (though it's also possible that the last two numbers are 9 and 6). The length is 31.5cm and the thread lengths are about 2 and 5cm. I'm adding the photos they've sent me. Could you help me identify the part?

Thanks!

Hello,

The last digit is definitely a 5, as you have a 6 and you can see that the stamping is completely different. As 9 is a reversed 6, I would also assume the 4th digit in the second segment is not a 9. But possibly could be a 3, which is the most similar to 8.

I did a search on moog website with both combinations (623 16085 and 623 16035), but with no luck.

But searching with 16035 gave some interesting results :) Check this part number: OP-AX-4160

It's a little bit shorter (306,5 mm), but I think a tape mesure is not a proper tool for mesuring such things.

According to amazon it suits Opels/Vauxhalls, but the moog website states several FIATs / Alfas:

And the part looks similar on Amazon :)

Thanks for making the effort, @the green vanper! I just got off the phone with my parts dealer. He had already taken this part to the garage, but unfortunately, apart from it being indeed a bit shorter, it also has some kind of a flange on the shorter thread, which prevents it from being completely screwed in. So, I guess the search continues. As for the Amazon image, it appears to be a generic image, and not one of the specific part.

I'd contact Moog directly via their website. It's the easiest way to get a 100% accurate answer.

Yes, I did that and I'm waiting for a reply. I just thought I'd give it a shot, in case somebody over here had an idea. Thanks again, though!

I just thought I'd post an update of what happened, so that the thread has a closure:

After looking through a bunch of catalogues and exchanging a few e-mails with gurusoncall.tech, to whom I was referred by Moog, I got the information that the number on the rood is simply a LOT number, and not the part number. So, there was no other options but to work with the measurements I have. This led me to a possible candidate, which was SU-AX-2866. As the "SU" in front suggests, this is a part for SUBARU!

In the end, I got a compatible part from a SUBARU parts dealer, which fitted like a glove!

Now, the question is: "What on earth is a SUBARU steering system doing in my Bravo"?
