Hi All,

I was looking at this 500 Jolly and noticed a few things off. The chassis stamp seems to be in the wrong place and I'm not sure you should see the old door lines in the body. I want to buy it but looks like it's a decent conversion rather than an authentic Jolly. Also the year may be wrong?

What do the experts think?

Thank you,

Model
500 Jolly
Year
1959

I'm certainly no expert, but your suspicions seem on point.
Can I suggest a online image search, to compare others, plus the wiki to see if there were other companies making abroad on licence?
Just a thought, sorry I can't be of more help.
Simca also made the "Jolly" (Simca were originally set-up by Fiat to make Fiats under licence in France). I would agree with "GettinBetter"---I do not think that is an orginal.

@the hobbler ... if they were made under licence doesn't that make them an original?

I did notice when having a search myself that there were quite a few versions with both single and double door lines. :shruggs:
Yes, if they were made under licence they could be 'original'---but they would have the constructing manufacturer's name and badges on the car (Simca, Fiat). A friend of mine has restored a Simca '500 Jolly', and it carries Simca badges. Having looked at other 'Jollies' I am still of the opinion thatthis one is 'questionable' I looked at a 1959 'Jolly' that was at an auction (with a 479cc engine!) and among other things that i noticed---you could NOT see the door bottom outline. Just go onto "Fiat 500 Jolly" on line, there are lots to see, including the auctioned car

Thank you all. I think its either walk away or offer what a conversion trades for.

msg me....
I have a genuine Jolly (Ghia) as technically any one can make a car so it is therefore original...
Have access to chassis numbers and details of known Original Jollys and 500Ns

@Bigvtwin996 I have a Jolly that's been in the family for years, as a new member I can't PM you, would love to see what your database says.
