Hey folks, couple of questions about our Astra 53 plate.

When my bf brakes quite firmly in the car, there is a vibration through the steering wheel. We've had the tracking done, the wheels balanced, and the brake discs & pads seem to be ok when we got them checked.

When pressing in the clutch the engine makes a different noise - its a diesel but the noise is tinnier and louder when the clutch is in. You can only hear it inside the car - if you stand outside it makes no difference:confused: We've had a mechanic take a quick look at it but after checking all the obvious stuff he couldnt find anything.

Any suggestions?

The vibration may be due to the brake discs being warped - only needs to be a little to cause vibration. When braking is the vibration worse with the clutch down (neutral) or with the gears still engaged ? as this could be a DMF issue.

The noise when engaging the clutch may be the release bearing but as its a diesel it may be fitted with a Dual Mass Flywheel which could also be worn/faulty.

Thanks... the vibration is no worse when in neutral or with gears engaged if that helps?
