Hi All

I have flashing mileage and been told the car needs a proxi alignment.
Is there anyone near Brighton who can help me out?

Regards

Steve

So,,
Does the Bluetooth work?
Given you're new your car will need a new engine earth strap.
How old is the battery and do you ever want the stop start to work ?
Is there ANYTHING that doesn't work as expected?
Do your/are your day time running lights work in the bumper?

Hi there

I do not believe there is bluetooth, as no button on the steering wheel for it.
Whats the issue with the earth strap?
no idea on battery age, looks relatively recent, do not believe there is start/stop on it
flashing mileage is annoying
lights are are working

The flashing mileage indicates and problem with the cars various ecus talking to each other, a first and simple step disconnect the battery, have a coffee and re connect.
Start the car and re set the time and day, any difference? If not then yes needs proxi alignment.
Is the radio original?
All cars once 7 years old need a new engine earth strap

I did some research and found out about the battery bit, so I have done that and reset the time and date, and it is still flashing.
Original radio
Do you have any details on the strap?

The earth lead you can check using a multimeter. Mesure the voltage on the battery, than keep the multimeter (+) lead on the battery (+) and move the multimeter (-) lead on the car body, then on the engine. If there are differences in measured voltages, there's a problem with the lead. Also, while you measure the voltage with the (-) lead on the engine, wiggle the earth cable and see if the measured voltage drops.
If you have lower value voltage on the body and engine, the earth cable might need to be replaced. But first you check it's integrity (to not have broken threads) and you clean its contacts as they are probably oxidized.

It's a black cable going from the battery negative to a bolt on the body underneath the battery then to top of the gearbox.

It's generally advised to change this main earth cable if you have any electrical issues, a poor earth can cause all kinds of problems.

Cleaning up the connections is a good start, but even if the cable looks good on the outside it can be rotten inside.

A cheap and easy (as long as the battery tray wants to unbolt) fix to a number of problems.

Maybe not related to your issue - flashing mileage means no communication with something on the CAN system, Blue&Me failure is a common cause.

But worth doing anyway. An independent garage might charge you half an hour labour if you don't fancy doing it yourself.

Had the same problem with a 2015 Lounge tried all the fixes incl a new battery it was the "blue and me" module - flashing AND USB point not working AND radio not working if you have all of that then eBay has options to send it off and get it refurbed £50 ish leaving you to remove and refit - plenty on you/tube as to how to do it but its a bit of a job - my local garage charged me £130 for the whole job inc the module re-furb
