Alex, Have you heard of ''ad-mag''. You can put a free ad in under ''swaps''. Ie swap your car for a panda or whatever. Go to www.admag.co.uk
By the way, have you got a front garden or anywhere to work. If at side of road is only place you are up against it.
Cheers and good luck

Also ''Loot''. Bet they do swap ads, also free.

Alex, Presume the vectra has no mot tax or insurance. Why not practice on the vectra and bring it up to mot standard. Some local garages will collect and return the car when they mot it, for free. My local mot garage does this. It wont need tax or insurance if you do it this way. At the end of it you will have furthered your knowledge and also have a saleable car.
But as someone has already said, whatever you do its going to cost money. The cheapest way is a straight swap for a panda or any group 1 car. ------

Hi alex, You say ''a straight swap is ideally what you are after, but nobody's interested''.
It took me 3 years to sell an old camper van [with the inside ripped out]. Using ad-mag i had one phone call from the first ad ,from a fella who just wanted a laugh. Then from occasional ads i put in over 2.5 years nobody rang. Forgot about it for 6 months then somebody locally said he was interested. He wasnt, he was just a laughing old man having a joke. Put it in ad-mag again and a fella came round. He said it was just what he wanted as a project, and would be round the following day with the cash, offering me £800 against the asking price of £850. [i was that pissed of with it i would have taken £400]. Stayed in the following day convinced he wouldnt turn up. He did turn up, paid the £800 in cash and took it. I was in a state of shock because it had finally gone.
If you stick out for what you want you will get it eventually. You indicate the veccy is clogging the drive but you will hopefully soon have a panda clogging the drive. Hopefully that will be ok with mom and pa. ====

Hey Alex, I may have the car or cars your looking for in storage in Six ashes nr Bridgenorth. I have a dozen pandas in various states of repair mostly 4x4's but there a couple of 2wd with twin s/roofs. If your interested Pm me and we can maybe meet up (y)

I sent you a message, No reply =P

Thats true... I was such a girly boi when I first came on here and now well, erm..

Yeah, that!

Jim

Seconded, though several cars in the Panda category are similarly easy to work on like the Micra K10 and K11. The Citroen AX I looked at didn't seem particularly tricky either.

The FIRE engine's a wonderful piece of kit though.

Thou our 94/95 cars are a bit more 'techie' than most pandas with their funky fuel injection, engine management and dicky sensors but I was well chuffed today when I found it was the fuel pump that was giving me problems on Mojo(y)

Just need to change it now....

Easiest to work on are suzuki swifts 995cc 3 cylinder. Very small engine and loads of space all round under bonnet. Had one since 1995. Thing is they dont need much working on.
