Hi guys
I have a problem with a whole new sound system I recently installed in my Punto MK2B which includes:
- Sony CDX-GT26 Head Unit
- JBL GTO-501EZ Mono Bass Amplifier which is connected to a JBL GTO1214 12" subwoofer
- JBL GT5-A402E Amplifier which is connected to a pair of JBL GT6-6c component speakers
The amps have seperate power cables both run down the left of the car. The rca's, remote cables and component speaker cables are all run down the right hand side of the car.
The problem is interference noise coming through the front components. The noise i get is much more noticable when the engine is running compared to when it is off. There is a high pitched whine which actually mimics the sound of the engines revs but in high pitched form, i also get a loud clicking when i put my indicators on.
The head unit has only one set of rca outs and so i used a stackable rca y splitter to run straight from the head unit to the mono amp.

then from the mono amp i attach another rca cable into the y splitter and into the amp for the components to link them.
I have tried also putting the y splitter into the component amp then the other rca cable from that to the mono amp but there is still the noise.
When i just run the component amp and dont link up the mono amp there is no interference noise what so ever so it must be to do with the mono amp right?
I've read through the interference guide by Xen but im still not sure as to why its happening since there is no interference when the rca cable dont attach to the mono amp, but the mono amp is still powered and setup as normal.
I havent listened for interference through the sub when up and running but i guess because the interference is so high pitched that it would not be able to recreate the sound?
Hopefully ive explained enough for you to understand and i hope somebody can help me out as its very annoying
Thanks in advance
Ash.
EDIT: Both amps are grounded at the same point which is one of the bolts that hold the seat backs in place at the joint. Dont know if this is ideal or not?
