Hi all, new to the group. I have a 2018 595 that I bought as a repaired cat S. On the dash when I bought it, it had the airbag light, seatbelt light and no fuel cut off lit up on there along with odometer flashing.
After taking it to an auto electrician he said just take out the airbag control module and send it to someone on eBay who sorts them out. I did this and sent it off only to get back a message off the guy that there's no crash data on there to be deleted.

k I put it back in the car and bought multiecuscan along with the relevant plugs for the canbus connection.
After connecting up to multi and trying the body module, it shows that my airbag node is not present. Under list of active control units it shows my airbag is not active. Under control units logistics mode is shows my airbag node is normal. I've tried to perform a proxi alignment on it as some have suggested but it says it doesn't need aligning and also doesn't show any airbag on that section. When I try to connect to the airbag module it just gives me an error ELM-ECU connection failed. No response from module. I literally have zero clue what else I need to do or look for as I need my car to be safe moreso for when my kids are in there too. I've also attached a few pics of what I'm getting from multiscan. If anyone could give me any advice I'd really appreciate it! Thank you for reading
 
First things first. Did you get the same (your original) airbag ECU back?
Are you sure you re-connected it properly? Unplug it again and check carefully for any bent (might be folded flat) damaged or pushed back pins.
Make sure there is nothing forien in the connector and it seats fully when you put it back on.
Check the fuses.

Yup made sure it was the same module that I had back, I had a local mechanic to fit it back in for me too so I'm assuming it's connected well. Not 100% sure though if they've checked the fuse though, I'll check that myself tomorrow. Any idea on the location of that on the fuse board?
 
Sorry don't know the fuse location. What did the mechanic say when it didn't work? Even professionals can make mistakes. I'd like to say I've never damaged a connector in 40+ years of working in electronics and aviation but I can't. It's particuarly hard with the lever or baynet locking connectors as they can apply a lot of force with little effort.
It's also hard to diagnose things when you don't know what has been done to the car before. A good visual inspection of the area around the ECU and it's wiring might reveal something.
If you know what the damage that resulted in the write-off was have a good look in that area too.
After that it's back to basics checking for a supply to the ECU and continuity checking of the wiring. After power and ground check the CAN bus connections to the OBDII socket.

Cheers for the input there rob much appreciated! I'll have another check of those bits you've mentioned and hopefully I'll get a bit closer to getting things sorted on it. I'll do what I can but if I get no joy I'll see if I can get in touch with an electrical person who can have a check of the bits I'm not so confident with or unsure about. That's the last thing I want is to have a go of something and I messaged it up making it worse than I began with
