Hi,

I am at the end of my patience with the standard Stilo tape/radio system head unit, I miss listening to my cds and I do not want to go ahead and put in a standard 5 cd Blaupunkt autochanger that I am limited to.

I would rather just get rid of this and install an aftermarket one. I have got £250.00-£350.00 or thereabouts to spend on a good system, I want a good headunit with possibly bluetooth/mp3/touchscreen facilities, good powerful speakers that I can replace the standard ones with, an autochanger, dont matter if its 6 or 10 changer with mp3 capabilities and anything else that would give me a powerful, crystal clear audio system.

Any recommendations/Any places that you think would do this or is it hard to do yourself providing I dont mess up anything in the process.

First thing to do is get new door speakers (all 4) and swap the tweeters at the same time. I went for Clarion Srs 1725's as they are a perect fit and give an outstanding sound. I assure you that they wont need a sub to compliment them.

Head unit is a personal thing. I was prepared to spend hundreds but I couldn't find one that gave an amber display like the rest of my dash; in the end I went for a Pioneer P6700 MP3 head unit with customisable colour schemes- perfect. It's ipod compatible and a standard Pioneer 6 CD changer CD670 goes with it nicely. So you have MP3 head unit (120 songs), Ipod Nano (approx 2000 songs), a 6 cd changer (150 songs) and the Radio if you need any more songs.

Heres a pic. If you need a fascia panel let me know.

what is that fascia you ahve there, have never seen one before...im intrieged!

It's a Stilo fascia panel with an integrated ipod (sticking out). The ipod is controlled by the head unit so it slides in and out of the fascia plate like a secure digital card.

Here it is from another angle.

Thinking of installing the Pioneer DEH-P9800BT aftermarket head unit before the end of next week, quite expensive, does anyone have this and how would you rate it?

It certainly isn't cheap ;) I think the adage you get what you pay for would apply here - you should get some good quality sound with that HU. WHat made you decide to go for that one in particular? :)

I have a beautiful Stilo, some money stashed away from my unsuccessful previous stints on getting an aftermarket system, and a cassette/radio factory fit system that doesnt do me any justice(y)
The Pioneer P9800BT is a new headunit, mp3 and bluetooth compatible, has a full colour display, the sound output would be extravagant and its ipod ready, I cant ask for more in a system, but would be interested to hear from people who have got it, any pics of it fitted would be a bonus, doesnt matter whether its a pic of the system within a Stilo, Seicento, Cinquecento, 500, etc:D

Hello
know this is daft question but I just removed the standard head unit out of mine, got the facia in place and plug in the cables into the back of the new one and got the best part of nothing ! no power or sound.

Did you have to use some other cable as a go between ? to make the power outputs correct?

Thanks

Drew

Im still in the process of fitting it Mr Drew, no time during the weekdays and when I get home from work, its already night-time and too dark to work but I want to fit it myself if possible.

Bozzy, thanks for your reply and recommendations. If I were to fit it myself, any ideas how I would go about doing it and what I would need, as I know the head unit and cd changer to go for, and the speakers you recommended sound good to compliment the system, but how would I go about configuring the wiring and when removing the standard fiat head unit, does the fascia pictured fit straight into place.

BK, heres a thread for the speakers which is about the most difficult part of the speaker replacement, it's actually very very easy to do, it just doesn't look it. No messing with cables required either apart from bridging the connection between terminals at the speaker end.

https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo-technical/71849-speaker-adpaters.html?highlight=pod

The fascia panel (pictured) is a standard Stilo fit without any mods needed. The one I have spare is designed for use with an I-pod Nano so if you choose to go with that set up let me know you can have it gratis.

The head unit requires very little work, just plug the cables together and with very little configuration (1 red/yellow wire) all will be fine. If you run into any trouble you will get the help from everyone here.
